FutureOrb for Incident Response Tracker (FIRST™) Product

Improve situational awareness of First / Emergency Responders

Collage of three people working in different security positions, with safety warning signs and an updated floor plan. The first person, a police officer, is near a police car at night saying, "I wish somebody had warned us about the chemicals!" The second person, a young man in casual clothing, is pointing a gun in a tense scene. The third person, a woman at a computer in an office, is monitoring security footage and says, "Waiting for the HAZMAT Team is potentially going to cost someone's life." Safety signs include a 'Danger Hazardous Material' warning, a 'Caution Construction Area' notice, and an 'Updated Floorplan' diagram.

The Challenge

First/Emergency responders frequently do not have access to accurate critical site-specific information at the incident location when outside their vehicle, which can include:

  • Accurate Maps

  • Site Characteristics

  • Building Occupancy

  • Contact Information

  • Entry/Exit Points

  • Hazardous Materials

Informational graphic showing process of creating and delivering accurate emergency data for buildings. Features a laptop screen with a form to create emergency data, a city building schematic, a smartphone displaying incident data on location, and labels indicating stages of data creation, modification, and delivery. Additional callouts highlight the importance of up-to-date and accurate emergency information.

The Solution

FIRST amplifies situational awareness and delivers accurate information to First/Emergency Responders by having businesses maintain their information via GBL’s patented Content Management Systems to seamlessly improve the accuracy of their First Responder data.

  • Businesses/Organizations maintain emergency information using FIRST CMS.

  • Updated emergency information at the incident location.

  • First/Emergency Responding uses FIRST mobile app to extract accurate emergency information.

Challenges

Deploy a near-real-time CMS for First Responders during an event called Coastal Trident that allows for content to be created, managed, and delivered to mobile devices via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) beacons and GPS lat/lon geofenced locations.

Solution

Utilize FutureOrb CMS, mobile app, and BLE devices/GPS to provide a near real-time interoperable communication method to deliver scenario-based proximal content for participating First Responders and Facility Security Officers throughout the event exercise.

Status/Results

First Responders successfully took a self-guided tour of the port, receiving proximal content related to each building. For the active shooter scenario, First Responders gave positive feedback on the proximal communications they received.
